ROCC WP1 Stakeholder Workshop (INVITE ONLY)

7th June 2022 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pm

Important to note this event is INVITE ONLY

ROCC, ‘Resilience of Coastal Communities’, is a collaborative project led by the University of Exeter and funded by SMMR, which seeks to explore the interplay between resilience, wellbeing, and environmental sustainability in coastal communities in Southwest England.

Industries and individuals who rely on marine resources make up the social and economic fabric of coastal communities, but increasingly face diverse threats — from climate change to political and regulatory change and crises. ROCC will develop a ‘nexus approach’ to consider the close relationships between human resilience, wellbeing and environmental sustainability, and to explore ways for solutions targeting one of these goals to also explicitly consider the other two.

This workshop will bring together key stakeholders involved in working towards these goals in the region to share experiences and help us identify how our research can support the challenges faced in addressing each of the nexus goals. The workshop aims to stimulate discussion about the value and application of this approach, and stakeholder perspectives will inform the direction of the project and ensure that our research reflects relevant local priorities.
